THANKSGIVING MAGNETIC STORM / LARGE SUNSPOT

This is a look at the lone numbered region (2612) as it moves into view off the northeast limb. The region appears magnetically stable and will likely not be a threat for noteworthy solar flares.

G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic storm levels were observed at 24/1414 UTC (9:14 am ET) due to coronal hole high speed stream effects. Solar Wind Speed: 491 km/sec Solar Wind Magnetic Fields: Bt 10 nT, Bz 1 nT http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/

A minor G1-class geomagnetic storm is underway on Nov. 24th as Earth moves through a stream of solar wind. The solar wind stream responsible for this display may be here throughout the holiday. Flowing from a large hole in the sun's atmosphere, the stream is broad and should take several days to cross. Arctic auroras are possible from now until at least Nov. 25-26. http://spaceweather.com/
