G2 (Moderate) Storm in Progress Nov. 25
SOLAR WIND STORM: Earth is now fully inside a high-speed solar wind stream flowing from a large hole in the sun's atmosphere. Gusts clocking 600+ km/s are causing G2-class geomagnetic storms and bright auroras around the poles.
The solar wind stream responsible for this display is broad and should take several days to cross. Arctic auroras are likely from now until at least Nov. 26th.
G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storm warning is in effect through 25/0900 UTC
G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storm warning is in effect from 25/0545 - 25/0900 UTC (25/0045 - 25/0400 ET). The G2 warning was issued due to a sudden escalation in overall planetary geomagnetic response from a favorable solar wind environment and elevated solar wind speeds of a coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS). The sudden escalation in activity resulted in the G2 condition first being met at 25/0550 UTC (25/0050 ET). Additionally, a G1 warning is in effect through 25/1200 UTC (25/0700 ET).
