Aurora Watch: Earth is Entering a Stream of high-speed Solar Wind
Today Earth is entering a stream of high-speed solar wind. Flowing from a canyon-shaped hole in the sun's atmosphere, the stream could affect our planet for at least the next two days. Arctic sky watchers should be alert for auroras.
UPDATE: MAGNETIC UNREST: Earth's polar magnetic field is unsettled as our planet moves deeper into a stream of solar wind that arrived on Feb. 16th.
UPDATE: Aurora Watch
An elevated solar wind stream flowing from an Earth facing coronal hole continues to brush past our planet. A minor (G1) geomagnetic storm watch is currently in effect for the next few hours. Currently a Kp of 4 is being observed. Visible aurora is likely at higher latitudes while it is still dark outside.
Solar Wind Speed: 518 km/sec
