Solar Wind has Arrived, G1 (Minor) Geomagnetic Storm levels were Observed

A canyon-shaped hole in the sun's atmosphere is spewing a stream of solar wind toward Earth. NOAA forecasters estimate a 60% chance of G1-class storms on March 1st when Earth is fully enveloped by the fast-moving solar wind.

The source of the solar wind is a coronal hole (CH)--a region in the sun's atmosphere where the magnetic field opens up and allows solar wind to escape.

G1 (MINOR) GEOMAGNETIC STORM LEVELS OBSERVED

G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storm levels were observed at 01/1036 UTC due to effects from the anticipated arrival of a recurrent, negative polarity coronal hole high speed stream. Additional G1 storming is expected through 01/1500 UTC
